About

Formatly is an independent, free set of file utilities that run in the browser. There is no conversion API behind the pages, no account wall, and no queue of uploaded photos on a server. The product exists so you can change a format without handing the file to a third party.

The first line is the image converter: JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, GIF, SVG, TIFF, BMP, ICO, and PDF. Open a dedicated pair such as HEIC to JPG or JPG to PNG when you already know both sides. Each pair page presets the tool and explains what the conversion actually changes — transparency, loss, raster size — instead of a generic “upload and wait” form.

The second line is developer tools: JSON Formatter, minifier, JSON/YAML/CSV converters, JWT encode and decode, and JSON to TypeScript, Java, or Kotlin. Same rule as images: paste or drop a file, get a result in this tab.

Local-only is the point. Typical “online converters” take the bytes — private photos, screenshots with names in them, API payloads with tokens — and send them to a machine you do not control. Even if the operator deletes the file later, you still granted a copy. Formatly keeps decoding and encoding on the device that already holds the file. Browser APIs and, for some formats, WebAssembly codecs do the work here. That is also why Formatly is not a cloud DAM, not a layered photo editor, and not a PDF-to-image pipeline: PDF is pack-only, HEIC is decode-only, SVG is rasterized rather than rewritten as SVG.

The tradeoff is honest. A large HEIC on a phone may take a few seconds. Huge TIFFs can hit memory limits. There is no farm of GPUs behind the page. In return you can convert a confidential screenshot without creating an account or installing a desktop suite.

You can check the claim. Open developer tools, switch to the Network panel, convert a file. You should not see a POST of the image or JSON to a conversion endpoint. You may see HTML and codec scripts load; those are code, not your file. More on that on security and privacy.

Formatly is not a rebrand of an upload SaaS and not a desktop installer. The site is the product: static pages plus client-side codecs. Ads may appear below the heading on tool pages; they are not the converter. Search engines should treat www.formatly.space as the canonical host (the apex redirects there).

What we will not pretend to ship: PDF→JPG (there is no page decoder), a hundred thin compare URLs, or a cloud history of your files. The catalog is already large enough to index. Depth on the money pages — HEIC to JPG, JPG/PNG/WebP, SVG to PNG, JSON tools — matters more than minting more slugs.
